Welcome to the PaganFM! almanac for the week of November 30, 2008.
It is November 30, 2008. It’s the 335th day of the year.
Today marks the birth of Oberon Zell-Ravenheart, who was born on this day in 1942. Oberon was one of the founders of the Church of All Worlds, which was inspired by Robert A. Heinlin’s book “Stranger in a Strange Land”. In August, Oberon was diagnosed with cancer, and as of October 14, a port for his chemotherapy was put in, but PET scans showed that the cancer has not spread, and for the moment, he seems to be cancer free, though he does report that the chemotherapy does take its toll.
Oberon and his wife Morning Glory live in Sonoma County, California.
On Monday, December 1st, the moon is void of course at 10:44 am.
Monday is the birthday of Anodea Judith, born on this day in 1952.
It’s also the anniversary of the death of Aleister Crowley who died on this day in 1947 at the age of 72. It’s claimed by some that his last words were “I am perplexed”, but Crowley is reported to have died alone.
On Tuesday, the moon will enter Aquarius at 1:44 am
Wednesday sees a void moon at 9:14 pm, which enters Gemini on Thursday at 1:23 pm.
We’ll have a 2nd quarter moon on Friday at 4:25 pm.
Friday, December 5 is also the anniversary of Pope Innocent VII’s reversal of the Canon Episcopi, via the issuance of Summis Desiderantes Affectibus, which removed many obstacles to inquisitors in 1484.
Heinrich Kramer had sought authority to prosecute witchcraft in germany, but was refused by local authorities. This Bull recognized the existence of witches, and gave the inquisition authority to fight witchcraft by whatever means were available.
On Sautrday, the 6th, the moon will be void at 7:43 pm, and enters Aries at 9:44 pm.
Saturday marks the Birth of Dion Fortune. Born Violet Mary Firth, she took her family motto, Deo, non fortuna (God, not fate), as inspiration for the name she is so much better known by. She died in 1946.
Upcoming events include:
Time: 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: Your own home
Notes: Please answer this request post stating your reason for healing energy and/or prayers sent your way. Prayer requests can be asked for other than healing and for other than yourself.
A white candle will be lit for you on Sunday unless you request another color to be used. This is a group event so the more people involved the better. Feel free to join sending out energy. Always keep in mind that requests are always done for the highest good of all concerned. This may mean the outcome may be different than we hope for. The spiritual healing work we do is designed to work in harmony with other treatment modalities, not as a subsitute.
2nd Saturday of each month

Welcome All Women!
Event Details: Red Tent Temple
Beginning this month when the darkest and coldest time of the year embraces us, Mother Rooots will be hosting a monthly non-denominational Red Tent Temple for women of all ages! Come and warm your body, rest your soul and uplift your spirit in sacred, women's space! Inspired by Anita Diamant's novel, The Red Tent, women everywhere are raising their own Red Tent Temples on or around the new moon, all over the country every month to honor the natural rhythms and cycles of women. This is a collaborative experience. We will need women to step forward to help priestess this event by bringing soup, herbal teas, offering healing work, helping to set up the space, etc. and we call on all women who are craving time to rest, heal, do some divination, or simply, BE ~ without any agenda at all ~ in the sacred women's space of the Red Tent Temple. Bring your journals, your knitting, or your favorite book. Come to rest, to nap, to dance, to sing, to heal, to renew. Wear a little red! Please bring your own mugs, bowl and spoon.
There is a $5 - 10 donation to help cover costs. The first Red Tent Temple will be on Sunday, November 30 from 3 - 8pm. A formal circle will be held from 5-7. (Set-up volunteers please arrive earlier - call to let them know if you can help out and in which way you would like to do so.)
Young, newly bleeding women are especially welcome, along with the women-elders in our community!

We shall be holding a half day of mindfulness on Saturday December 13 from
10am to 1pm. At karnan House, 206 Court Street in Portsmouth
We shall be practicing Total Relaxation and Touching the Earth followed by a
mindful vegetarian potluck lunch together.
The practice of Total Relaxation is a wonderful way to let go of stress and
tensions in our bodies and our minds. Establishing peace and calm in body
and mind, we shall continue with the practice of Touching the Earth to
explore our roots and connections to parents, teachers, friends, and
numerous beings who make up who we are. This is a wonderful practice to
find forgiveness and a deeper connection to life and to overcome fear,
especially fear of death.
These are wonderful practices for the holiday season especially for those of
us who experience stress during these times and those who have difficulties
with their families of origin.
Please join us, and bring a vegetarian dish to share in a potluck lunch.
The event is free, though donations are accepted to support South Church
I hope to see you on Saturday December 13.
